FAQ

Do Aroha’s professionals only provide services to the 2SLGBTQ+ community?

No. While Aroha Pride Counselling has a focus on queer-affirming therapy services, our professionals work with individuals from all walks of life who appreciate an inclusive and socially conscious approach to mental health.

Can Aroha’s professionals provide services to residents anywhere in Canada?

Each profession (social work, psychology, counselling etc.) is bound by different laws and regulations that can change from province to province. For this reason, each professional will be in a unique position to provide services throughout Canada. Only professionals who can provide services to Saskatchewan residents are included on this page, and you will find all practice jurisdictions listed within each professional’s profile.

Can Aroha direct-bill with any insurance companies?

Yes. In Saskatchewan, we are set up to direct-bill with Canada Life, Manilife, Green Shield, Blue Cross, and NIHB among others. Many companies that do not offer direct-billing for mental health services will still reimburse you after submitting your own claim. However, not all insurance policies are guaranteed to cover every type of mental health professional and it is important to review your policy booking an appointment.

I’m a minor. Can I still access services without my parent or guardian’s consent?

It’s best to reach out to us directly through the contact page if you’re under 16 and worried about having consent from a parent or guardian for services.

Does Aroha offer sliding scale services?

Yes. Those seeking services priced on a sliding scale should refer to our Reduced Rate Services page for more information about the eligibility requirements.

“As a social worker who also accesses counselling services, I know how important it is to find support from a provider who understands how positive mental health outcomes are inherently related to ending injustice for all. Folks at Aroha bring their knowledge of equity, community and care to their practice to ensure that everyone who accesses counselling gets the kind of support they need.”
