Susie Forsyth, MSW, RSW (they/them)
Therapist, Registered Social Worker
Susie Forsyth, MSW, RSW (they/them) is a transgender, non-binary, queer, and neurodivergent therapist living and working on Treaty 7 territory in so-called Calgary, Alberta. They recently completed a Master of Social Work degree at the University of Calgary after previously completing a Bachelor of Social Work. Susie worked for several years in crisis support with people impacted by sexual violence and, prior to that, with marginalized youth. They have focused their clinical practice and academic pursuits on uplifting and empowering 2SLGBTQIA+ folks. They work with both youth (14+) and adults, specializing in areas related to gender and sexuality, depression, anxiety, borderline personality disorder, sex work, sexual violence, trauma, and neurodiversity.
Susie’s combination of lived experience and formal education positions them as an empathetic practitioner with a unique ability to build authentic rapport through humour and genuine connection. Susie strives to be actively anti-oppressive in their approach to counselling by remaining aware and critical of the intersecting oppressions faced by marginalized individuals and communities. Their work is informed by values of anti-racism, queer theory, and harm reduction, as well as a client-centred, affirming approach to sex work, kink, and non-traditional family orientations. Susie draws from a variety of therapeutic modalities, such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), strengths-based approaches, somatic-based practices, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). They bring a sense of curiosity and a non-judgmental stance to foster space for exploration and client self-determination in each session.
Susie is registered to provide social work services with Alberta residents. Their services as a Registered Social Worker are covered by most insurance providers. They invite new clients to schedule a free consultation through the booking page.
