Job description:
Aroha Pride Counselling is a queer and trans affirming therapy group practice that collectively works from an anti-racist, decolonial, and anti-oppressive perspective. Our clients represent people from all backgrounds and walks of life, and most are drawn to our specialization in queer and trans affirming mental health services. Aroha is seeking an independent contractor for a remote position providing online mental health therapy services. Applicants must have a masters level education in clinical social work, psychology, or a related field. Applicants must also be registered/licensed with a regulatory body in Saskatchewan, or willing to acquire this. Being registered/licensed to practice in provinces outside Saskatchewan is an asset. Since our client base is primarily 2SLGBTQ+, the successful contractor will demonstrate knowledge of working with this demographic, as well as align with our anti-oppressive, anti-racist, and decolonial values in practice.
This position is fully remote and sessions are offered online only. The contractor must furnish their own computer and workspace suitable for providing telehealth services and have access to a reliable internet connection.
The successful contractor will have the flexibility to set their own hours and availability for client sessions. Our organization provides client referrals, full administrative support, and access to privacy compliant online platforms for session booking and case management. While there is regularly a waitlist, there is not a guaranteed caseload size.
Requirements:
- Must have a masters degree in social work, psychology or related field
- Must be licensed/registered to practice in Saskatchewan (or willing to acquire this)
- Must demonstrate a strong cultural and political awareness of 2SLGBTQ+ experiences
- Must demonstrate a strong understanding of anti-oppressive, anti-racist, and decolonial considerations in counselling
- Must be located in Canada
- Preference will be given to those with 2 or more years of clinical experience
Please submit a cover letter and resume as attachment by email to jobs@aroha.ca with attention to Emily Ritenburg . The cover letter must identify knowledge related to working with 2SLGBTQ+ populations. Special consideration will be given to applicants who hold marginalized identities and/or experience employment barriers.
