Phoenix Hourie, BSW, RSW (they/he) is a two spirit, non binary, Red River Métis counsellor from Winnipeg, Manitoba. They earned their Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Manitoba and are currently pursuing a Master of Social Work based in Indigenous Knowledges, also through the University of Manitoba. As a registered social worker, Phoenix is able to provide services to those in Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
Phoenix aims to provide counselling services that centre the unique experiences and needs of the individuals they work with, are non-judgmental, and address the impacts that all forms of oppression have on mental health.
Phoenix draws from a variety of therapeutic frameworks such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Strengths-based models, harm reduction, Expressive Arts Therapies, and somatic therapies. They believe relationship building is key for effective counselling, and strives to foster relationships that feel safe, empowering, and affirming.
Phoenix currently works with individuals of all ages, and focuses on gender and sexual identity, neurodivergence, anxiety, depression, Indigenous culture and identity, relationships, and trauma. They are sex positive, sex work affirming, kink informed, trauma informed, and aims to provide services that are actively anti-oppressive.
Phoenix is registered to provide services in Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Their services as a registered social worker are covered by most insurance plans.
